Two Oscar-nominated directors, an illustrator's flat world, a live-action star, and a Japanese client. Someone had to make that one thing.

Dalton’s illustrations are flat by design. Rendering them with real volume would have thickened the thing that made them his. So we split it: painterly 2D for characters and their actions, 3D for everything else — camera and the background structure underneath.
