I’ve kept
good company
Almost everything I know came from working next to someone better at it than me. Some of that was craft. Most of it was perspective — someone looking at what I’d made and seeing it differently than I did, and saying so.
That’s the part I try to give back. Running a team isn’t about getting my version made; it’s about asking the questions that make theirs better, and being asked them in return. I think that’s the whole point of doing this with other people rather than alone.
I’m still trying to get better at it.
So far
I’m an Emmy and Annie Award–winning animation director based in Santa Monica. For twenty years I’ve made animation and images for film, television, installations and live performance.
On features, I’ve directed the animation for documentaries including He Named Me Malala, The Biggest Little Farm, The Mission, Ruth: Justice Ginsburg in Her Own Words, The Price of Free and All These Sons.
For television, I’ve directed the animation in Watch the Sound with Mark Ronson (Apple TV+), The Next Thing You Eat with David Chang (Hulu) and Worn Stories (Netflix).
I co-directed The Forgotten Four, a series of animated films for Meow Wolf’s Convergence Station in Denver.
My work for stage and museums includes projects for the Venice Biennale, New York City Ballet, the Wiener Staatsballett, the Danish Dance Theatre, the Smithsonian and two artist residencies with Works & Process at the Guggenheim.
I’m currently directing the animated short Misty, along with thirty minutes of animation for an eight-part documentary series and the animation for Hindou, a feature in production with Random Good.
In 2022 I co-founded Bright Eye, an animation studio for real stories.
